A few weeks ago I purchased the limited edition ‘London Calling’ miniature set by Kat Von D. After a long wait for us beauty addicts she finally released her collection in Debenhams and ahead of this official launch came the limited edition collection. As most of the beauty community know, KVD beauty has been available in Sephora across the world but here in the UK it has been a struggle for us to get our hands on the collection!
I decided to get the minis because I have heard such mixed reviews myself about her line that I wanted to try out the ‘fearless favourites’ before making a haul! It comes with its positives as the size allows them to be compact, perfect for travelling and they look so cute!
Tattoo Liner – Trooper
There has been a lot of hype around this product and as an avid liquid eyeliner user, I was super excited to receive not one but two mini liners in my box!
The liner has a flexible and fine pen style nib making it so easy to use. I use the L’oreal superliner anyway because of the pen style tip so I was happy that KVD had incorporated this into her collection also. The product claims to have 24hr wear and claims to be waterproof, so after wearing it for 11 hours, I’m pleased to say it lived up to its expectations! I can see why it is considered a classic, the precise finish is excellent and you can achieve a delicate finish. However the only critique I have is that the liner itself isn’t very pigmented and when doing eyeliner feline flicks I found that you need to go over the lines in order for the colour to be bold.
Studded Kiss Lipstick – Lolita
The lipstick packaging is incredible. I love the studded Gothic inspired wrapping and it really stands out among my lipstick collection.
The product itself is semi-matte and is a dark rose shade, almost between a red and a dark pink. It has a creamy texture, is easy to apply and is really pigmented. It has long-lasting wear and it doesn’t feel sticky or dry on the lips. I would definitely purchase the studded kiss lipstick again as I found this was my favourite product out of the three.
Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Double Dare
This smooth matte formula glides on the lips nicely and it is really creamy. The shade is a rose colour so it is quite similar to the ‘lolita’ lipstick but the pigment is perfect! It is very opaque and you only need one coat. When drinking throughout the day I noticed that it doesn’t transfer too much onto cups and glasses, and it does have a long-lasting finish and doesn’t fade easily.
The negatives of the liquid lipstick is that when applying it doesn’t dry quickly and can easily smudge. Alongside this I found that the product does dry the lips out and I found myself having to apply a little Vaseline on to moisten up my skin.
I’m happy I got to try this mini selection of ‘fearless favourites’ and I can see why KVD beauty is raved about among fellow bloggers. However I do feel is was a little lacklustre, and out of the three products I think I would only purchase the studded kiss lipstick in the future simply because I feel there are better products on the market!
Have you tried anything from Kat Von D Beauty? What are your thoughts?
