Five years ago I decided to visit Thailand and explore the southern islands as part of a one month vacation by myself. I stayed on 6 different islands and each one of those had its own quirks and features. I’ve never spoken about my trip before but I thought I would share with you my favourite Thai island. Koh Samui.
Koh Samui is the second largest island and it is a popular choice for backpackers and tourists alike. It’s idyllic beaches and lush tropical paradise makes it a perfect island destination.
Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, Koh Samui offers stunning landscapes, vibrant night markets and plenty of culture. Travel to the wonderful temples and spot the famous golden Buddha, or walk along the white sand beaches and have dinner at sunset.
For me, Koh Samui was the perfect place to unwind. I stayed in a gorgeous bungalow which was located on Lamai beach. The local cafe offered authentic and delicious Thai cuisine and the owners were extremely welcoming.
The Island has plenty of stunning sights like the Na Muang waterfalls which have a fantastic viewpoint and you can have a dip in the natural pool.
The weather in Koh Samui is tropical. It is usually warm all year round and the rainy season starts around October through to November. The driest and sunniest months to visit are during February and March. Daily temperatures average between 29 to 33 degrees. During the summer months, the temperature may be even hotter. There isn’t specifically the best time of year to visit Koh Samui as the weather is rather good all year round!
