Now I love having afternoon tea so when I was invited to the Hotel Du Vin in Brighton to sample their afternoon tea menu I was extremely excited.
Located on Ship Street in the Lanes the Hotel Du Vin has beautiful seating areas and sea views. On the day Brighton town was so busy and loud with the Brighton Marathon being on, however when walking into the Hotel it became so quiet and quaint. I remember saying to the girls it reminded me of a cute Disney village because the building is so unique.
Upon entering my mother and I were greeted with a glass of champagne and escorted to the upstairs terrace area. The weather was on our side, the sun was shining, and after taking some snaps it didn’t take long for the food to appear.
The afternoon tea began with the savoury selection; ham and chedder crossiant, the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, goat’s cheese and spinach quiche, heritage tomato and tapenade galette (pastry) and finally the egg and cress mayonnaise brioche roll. I will say if you aren’t a cheese lover or have an allergy requirement I would suggest informing the staff as they might be able to arrange an alternative for you.
My favourite choice from the platter was the heritage tomato pastry, it was so flavoursome and I just wanted another one!
After finishing up our first course, it wasn’t long but the sweet treats arrived and were accompanied by my choice of Jasmine Petals and Pearl tea and my mothers choice of Passionfruit Ceylon tea. My eyes lit up when the waiter brought over the little two-tiered stand full of goodies. Included was the creme egg brownies, lemon meringue pie, gin sorbet, rhubarb and custard doughnuts, warm scones with clotted cream and jam, and finally finished with some strawberry candy floss.
In this case my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly and I could not finish it all. There was so much food I felt like I was going to burst! I found myself staring at my empty plate astounded I had eaten so much but thinking about my favourite choice which was the sugared doughnuts and also the gin sorbet, which was just so refreshing especially on such a warm day.
After stuffing our faces we slumped back in our chairs had a good old natter and chose a Gin based beverage from the hotel’s wide selection of Gin and Fever-Tree Tonics. Now I’m not a big drinker but I do love a Gin now and again,, especially in the sunshine so I chose the Monkey 47 Gin with Indian Tonic and blueberries and strawberries. Mum chose the Gin Mare and Mediterranean tonic topped with olives.
The whole experience was just magical and I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to spend a Sunday afernoon! It was lovely catching up with my blogging girls Beckie, Georgia and Ali and I would highly recommend a visit to the Hotel Du Vin to try their afternoon tea and Gin selection.
Thank you so much to the Hotel Du Vin for inviting me, I had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to visit again!

This is the most gorgeous looking afternoon tea ever?! I love afternoon tea but normally the savoury is just a variety of sandwiches so I love that they chose some really yummy alternatives! Plus those desserts all sound amazing. I’ve never heard of candy floss at afternoon tea but I love it!
