I’ve been experimenting. Well, forcing myself into a semi-permanent state of positive thinking in the hope that things will seem brighter and overall be better. Now I know some people may think the whole “channeling positivity” thing is cheesy or just isn’t for them, but trust me when I say ‘it really works’.
As someone who suffers with Anxiety and BPD I know what it feels like to constantly have negative and fearful thoughts and worry about everything, causing you to just be an overall pessimist and a negative Nancy. However the past few months I have been actively changing the way I think when it comes to just about everything, and I have been consciously focusing all my positive energy into my life. Now by practicing this I have noticed that not only do I feel better in myself, but I feel more content.
Each days has become more productive, I am achieving and succeeding at more in my work on a weekly basis, much more work and social related opportunities have arisen, my relationships have improved, and for the first time ever, everything in my life is going in a smooth direction.
Now it is hard trying to constantly maintain an optimistic attitude as life isn’t always rosy. I’m always reminding myself to relax and that everything will work out, however putting positive thoughts into your everyday life is just a little step into making you feel more satisfied.
If trying to be positive all the time isn’t something you feel you can do right now, then that’s ok. Channeling positivity isn’t easy when you are battling other demons but in time it’s completely achievable.
Here are some tips how to become positive thinker…
♥ Appreciate what you already have and remind yourself of the goals you already have achieved.
♥ Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone is different.
♥ Spend some time partaking in some self care activities, e.g. have a nap, go for a long walk, have a pamper day or read your favourite book.
♥ Hold onto those moments of happiness.
♥ Write down your weekly or monthly goals/things you want to do. It is so satisfying ticking them off that list!
♥ Think about who you were one year ago. How have you changed and grown in that time?
♥ Be productive in your spare time and complete the things you have been neglecting.
♥ Channel your creative side. I often find writing poetry does the trick for me but if you enjoy painting or DIY then get stuck in!
♥ Take a a 5 minute tea break when you feel like you are going into meltdown mode.
♥ Don’t dwell on things! If you get upset or are obsessing over something little, remind yourself that some things aren’t worth worrying about!
♥ Spend time alone reflecting but also make time for family and friends.
♥ Take social media breaks.
♥ Write down your negative thoughts and then put them in the bin and forget about them.
I truly believe that if you are concentrating on thinking positively then the overall outcome will always be positive.
What are your thoughts on channeling positivity?
These are some super helpful tips! I really struggle to be positive sometimes so I’ll definitely be trying these out, great post lovely! Xx
Thank you darling! xxx
I really needed this today, well these past days. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this. You are the best.
You’re welcome! Thank you so much xxx
That’s such a useful list 🙂 Taking social media breaks, doing something creative and completing things I’ve been neglecting are super helpful for me. I think it’s important to try and cut out the negativity and allow as much positivity to reach you as possible. Sometimes we have so much negativity around us it’s hard to focus on anything positive. Social media wise, following some feel good accounts (it’s the cat and dog accounts for me ?) can help cut through the negative vibes and bring a smile on your face.
Thank you 🙂 xx I’m glad that some of these tips can help you! I will definitely start following some cute animal accounts! I love feel good pictures xxx
This is such a lovely post! I’m glad that channeling positivity is working for you and your tips are great too. I find thinking of 10 things your grateful for before you go to bed is a great way to end the day positively and feel happy and appreciative 🙂
xx
That is such a good idea! I normally do a “things I’m thankful for” post every few months but never thought about doing it before bed! Thank youxxx
Holding onto the moments of happiness is so so important. It’s so vital to remember those memories and it feels so heart warming to think back on them! What a lovely post. X
Thank you lovely!! xxx
These are such great tips! Definitely what I need right now!

I’m definitely a negarive Nancy even though I try not to be, there’s some great tips here that I hope make a part of my day to day life?
Great post lovely! Xxx
Thank you darling! I think everyone can be negative sometimes, it’s good to step back and try and be more positive xx
When I feel a panic attack coming I try to stay calm until I’m home or somewhere I feel ‘safe’ and then I’d like to dress in comfy clothes, watch Friends or a feelgood movie and just try to calm down a bit. Social media breaks also help a lot!
That’s a good idea! Comfy clothes and feel food films are the one! I love wrapping in my duvet and just hiding from the world for a bit xxx
Love the hold onto those moments of happiness tip! I think it is so easy to forget how fortunate we are, and remembering the happy moments can really keep us going xxx
Thank you! Yeah it’s definitely important to remember what we have xx
thank you
