With the pressures of day to day life building up on top of us it is easy to forget to take a break and look after ourselves.
Being kinder to yourself is extremely important. It is something many of us forget to do as our hectic lives can take over, and when we don’t sit back and relax it can affect our mental and physical health.
Self-care should be a priority and feeling burnt out is one that is all too familiar. However finding a routine that allows you to chill out and focus on self-love can be much easier than you would anticipate.
Have some ‘me’ time.
Have a long soak in the bath or treat yourself to some beauty products from Neal’s Yard*. Light some candles, have a cup of tea and play some chilled out music. I find it is also best to turn off your phone so you can really unwind. A good book can also be a good distraction from a heavy workload or from an emotional time. It is all about remembering to be kinder to yourself and even allowing yourself to have a pamper session a the same time!
Don’t be hard on yourself.
When times are tough it is easy to turn into your own worst enemy and blame yourself for things that can be out of your control. Life is an experience and a huge learning curve and mistakes are there to learn and grow from.
Stop comparing yourself to others.
I have said this before but stop comparing yourself to others! In an age where social media is prominent pictures of models and fake lifestyles can be a distraction and also can make you feel left behind. Celebrate your achievements and learn to accept your flaws.
Life a balanced lifestyle.
Eating healthy and regularly excerising is great for all aspects of your health. However don’t feel guilty for digging into a pizza or not going to the gym for a few weeks. Life is all about balance and it is vital to listen to yourself and do what you want to do, not what you feel pressured to do.
Try new things
If you are feeling that life isn’t really exciting you or you feel that you are just running on auto all the time then try something new. Visit a new place, try a different hobby or simply cook dinner for yourself and a friend. It is good to change things up and make your week a bit more exciting!

Such a great post – self care is so important and so often overlooked! I definitely agree that trying new things helps. I think getting out of your comfort zone every once in a while really boosts your adrenaline and endorphins and leaves you with such a sense of achievement! (Also, definitely agree with the long baths!)
